Nijjar Comes Back from USA, Extends a Helping Hand to Punjab’s Flood Victims

Music has the power to connect cultures, but sometimes, it also connects hearts in times of need. Indian-American Punjabi hip-hop artist Nijjar, who has made a global name for himself in the music industry, has now returned to his roots in Punjab — not for a concert, but to help those affected by the devastating floods that recently struck the region.

Nijjar, born on 10 June 1998 in Jalandhar, Punjab, grew up with deep ties to his homeland. His father, once a farmer, later moved to the trucking business in the United States, where the family shifted in 2015. While life in America shaped his exposure to global music, his heart remained connected to the traditions of Punjab. Today, as families in the state struggle with the destruction caused by floods, Nijjar has stepped forward, proving that he is not just an artist, but truly Punjab’s son.

The 27-year-old singer has made waves internationally with his unique blend of traditional Punjabi beats and modern hip-hop sounds. His debut album, His-Story, has crossed 50 million audio streams, and tracks like Clockin and Accounts went viral, cementing his place as one of the fastest-rising stars in Punjabi music. Since his breakthrough in 2018 with the track Tension, a collaboration with Karan Aujla, Nijjar has consistently built his career through self-taught skills in music production, lyricism, and composition.

But beyond the stage and streaming platforms, Nijjar is quietly shaping another legacy — one of service. Through his NGO, Nijjar Sewa Society, he has been actively contributing to social causes, with a current focus on helping rebuild flood-affected areas of Punjab. He is providing relief material, supporting displaced families, and working with volunteers on the ground.

Interestingly, Nijjar prefers not to spotlight his philanthropic efforts. “Music made me who I am, but Punjab made me what I am. Coming back here in this time of need is my responsibility,” he said during his visit.

As the state recovers from the natural disaster, Nijjar’s presence is more than symbolic. It reflects a heartfelt commitment to the land and people who shaped his identity. To his fans, he may be a rising global star. But to Punjab, he has returned as a son — one who is using his influence and resources to make a real difference.
